Dr. Derek A. Haaland
Dr. Derek Haaland is a board certified rheumatologist and Medical Director at The Waterside Clinic. Dr. Haaland has been conducting clinical trials since 2008 and has experience in over 35 phase II, III, and IV clinical trials, with disease conditions including acne, ankylosing spondylitis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and urticaria (hives). Additional research interests include allergies, asthma, connective tissue disease, fibromyalgia, inflammatory myopathies, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rhinitis, scleroderma, tendinitis, bursitis, and vasculitis.
Dr. Haaland is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the McMaster University Department of Medicine, and an Instructor for the McMaster University Internal Medicine Program.

The PERFORM Centre is a 8,000 m2 large-cohort population health and primary prevention research centre. PERFORM is equipped for conducting lifestyle and prevention interventions (coaching, behaviour change, nutrition, and physical activity), as well as validating the impact of those interventions through its 8 dedicated human participant platforms. These include physical conditioning, athletic therapy clinic, cardio-pulmonary, medical imaging (3-T MRI, PET-CT, SPECT-CT, DXA, ultrasound), metabolite/molecular analysis (including LCMS/MS mass spec), metabolic kitchen, sleep lab, and functional assessment (NeuroCom, EEG, perturbation, force plates, motion capture, Humac).
